Well apparently shortage of fully skilled plasterers has led to this, been reading articles this week and tbh dependant on areas obviously and that most plasterers would prefer to give a price anyway seems like a reasonable hourly wage, bearing in mind all the set up costs and extra hours doing paperwork, quoting and getting things ready plus time off sick or holidays, pension and maintenance of equipment and tools, insurance and last but not least experience.
:hola:

Dont know where you read that Vincent but round here there,s plenty of chancers/johnny foreigners
that work for a lot less p**ses me off big time i,m rendering at the mo coz the chancers cant only thing i,m up against is the weather there be no big rates round here until we send them all home that wont happen while johnny is doing ewi.

Not a chance wed see that kind of money here on the west of Ireland. 100-150a day is all what well get. The clients are miserable f**k**s and would get 10quotes to skim a wall ffs. We have farmers getting money from the government who lift a trowel to compete with. Have seen farmers quote 80euro a day. That's 400a week on top of their weekly money.

Still that bad your way. Am after pricing 2 skimming jobs at €7m2 and getting them. Iv price a other one at €7.50m2 not confirmed I got it. But have been told I basically got it. I used half time the other day and skimmed 8 board's in 1 hour 20 min €160 b4 tax. At €7m2. Then went and sprayed on 70m2 of mono. Things are on the up at the moment. But not that good very day tho. But still doing well. I stay off sites tho. A race to the bottom I think.

Not for me it ain't because I do a bit of everything but just for the guys who do just plastering, it can be Like this. I can get decent money on the stone walls then can pull off it for a week or two and do bit of other work. Ive did a few renovations that earned me decent coin. Most the work here is the ghost houses or people doing up their own houses/cottage's. No new builds about or housing estate's.

Don't get me wrong, things have picked up massively but the money is still hovering around like I said above and anytime I price high, I don't get although I did get a high bid recently but the men I had on it with me cost me money and it ate into my profit. Still managed a decent wage and deservedly so for what I put in.

Was actually chatting about the money with another guy on fri who works with me. Can't wait untill were back on a grand a week . We deserve it for what we put in.

Some builders are getting it hard to grasp the fact they can't ring and expect you there in a day or two.I priced a small extension 15 days ago and told the guy let me know in three or four days if I have it as I'm pricing other work.He rings me yesterday and says it's ready!.Either wait or get someone else.

The £60 p/h i made up lads but thought it's a good bench mark for bit of debate, we don't talk prices , fair enough but we should all be looking to increase what we getting, I'm as bad as the next bloke in all honesty for not charging enough, there is turds round here charging next to nothing but would be good if majority charged what we are worth , hopefully we'll all earn a good rate.

Too many variables across UK.

Gutted, was just about to ask you for a job :(

I agree, same here in Ireland. Were competing with the eastern Europeans, farmers who get money of the government and lads who have a wee grow or two on the go or sell a bit of white at the wknd to top their wages up. They earn a wage at that and can afford to drop their prices just to get it. TBH, its mine field, you either get lucky or get stung but as long as they even themselves all out at the end of the year, I'm happy.

Yeah mate, I got bombed out by a couple of builders a few yrs back when my old man retired, cos they didn't want me there on my own - they wanted 2 plasterers - then when they phoned me the other week asking if I could fit them in, I laughed and told them I was busy but also didn't think they could afford me anymore!

Well for some of us lot, the best thing we can hope for is to die in some cun7s bedroom refurbishment - age 70-odd after staying late to get an extra set on lol

Try halftime, then you don't cause inconvenience to the client dropping dead late at night (y)
