May asked the EU if Brits in Europe, and Europeans in the UK could be settled in a "yes they can all stay" scenario where that's taken out of the discussions/negotiations to come. Junkers and Merkle gave a flat refusal. So whilst I agree with the "morally corrupt" statement, it's aimed at the wrong person.

Disagree. We're better than that.

Unfortunately us Brits seem to get the blame for being born in a western country where everything including food, mortgages, bills etc etc cost so much more then Eastern Europe yet when we moan about wages dropping and those from Poland etc flooding the Job share and working for lower pay we are called Bigots.

Then we've got the likes of Tony Blair blaming Brexiteers for wanting to leave the EU when that t**t caused the mess first place by opening the Job market up to third world nations.

the african man is his name Gus? if so he has externals tied up all over southern England. the price he gives the easterns for mono is unbelievable.

Migrants from EU countries who been here 6 years+ apparently can stay no bother, well that was in the papers anyway.
Thing is people have mortgages, credit cards etc what ties them here so it will be interesting to see the outcome tbh
It's not as easy as some thinks it is

The UK needs migrant workers... our own lot are too lazy!!!

how many? .... a lot less than we currently have

this was in south cumbria mate....
he had a bonky eye ...so did 2 of the russians .....god knows who knows whos doing what and when.
the spray was dashed aswell.

the english lads dash by hand looks good.
the ruskies dash with a spray...looks not so well ...lines in different depths.

One other point to think is. If you go to usa with a criminal record then your probably not going to be staying there. But we let in people that we have no idea of their background if they are from eu

I disagree with it too, but if the EU say no there's nothing to be done until the negotiations start.

Many politicians and peers have said that it should be a unilateral decision, that it doesn't matter what other eu countries will or won't do, we must take the higher moral ground. I'm inclined to agree. Even loads of Tories have said the same.

my brother never had a criminal record until he went to america.
the country is built on claims.

theres plenty of good and bad everywhere.

he was in oz for 8 years done well with his own rendering firm.
then worked in the mines for 2 years before coming home.

he said he met every walk of life in the mines.....and would never do it again.
considering he was earning €250000 a year (aus dollars).
thats a bold statement.

Me too, and I'd go so far as to put money on it ending up with people staying on both sides.

There was an EU bloke on the radio last week talking about it. He explained that it can't be done unilaterally as it would leave the state and the people in legal limbo. They wouldn't be citizens in their host country. Neither would they be able to be on work visas as they don't exist yet. It would mean drafting and passing laws for people who's status is likely to be confirmed anyway. Hence the request to the EU to simplify the whole thing by accepting that they should be taken off the table up front.

As we well know from bitter experience, the EU does not like simple, clear or convenient for it's citizens. So whilst Theresa May and the Conservatives can rightly be criticised for many things, this isn't one of them. It sits fairly and squarely as the responsibility of the EU's intransigence and bureaucratic bollox. Which if we're honest is what landed Britain with Brexit in the first place.

I fear brexit for this country of mine if that border goes back up, itll send us back to the dark old days.

Why would it be the EU's responsibility? It's not the eu leaving the UK, it's the UK leaving the EU, not the same thing, load of tosh in my point of view. People annoyed about migration, hows commonwealth migrants better, they take the real high paying jobs ie doctors, solicitors etc that's where common English folk can't get in as the education cost a bomb.

its a shiit life danny...ok if your single or you hate your wife !!!

I know one or two who went there for 5 years and earned enough to buy a house here(150keuro) outright and still had money left over. Well worth it IMO. Id be there myself only i have kids, house etc.. here

Why would it be the EU's responsibility?

Because they are legally citizens of the EU and have EU passports. One state cannot legally decide the status of another's citizens without their agreement. The EU refused so there's nothing anyone else can do about it. If the EU gave a sh1t about people rather than politics and bureaucracy then it wouldn't be in the mess it's in!

Listening to someone who said there will have to be a border otherwise people will be pouring in from EU Republic into non eu Northern Ireland without checks, desperately sad if it does come to that.

Hence the UK has to prepare agreements so to say in between countries, did the UK did it? Did it f**k, it's always easy to point fingers and do bugger all. The UK government had not said one single fact about legislation or statuses regarding brexit the past 9 months, all they have is we will see attitude

Bottom line is it's a messs no one is ready for. Decisions will be made on the go and that's why no one can say or predict anything 100%

I'm not a fan of religion, but there are a few good quotes in the bible, one being "No man can serve two masters."

I don't think anyone is naive enough to think Brexit will bring about a Utopian society. However, what it will do is halve the number of self serving cnuts who have their fingers in everyone's lives.

If it ends up with us not having laws passed by the self serving arseholes that inhabit Brussels (and yes, I do mean Neil Kinnock and his cronies), that I am supposed to adhere to,.......that will do for me...
