Used unifinish today over artex ceiling and it was bang on as usual. Always second coat with board or uni. Did half the painted / scabby freeze in unifinish and the other in board. No problem with the unifinish but the board dragged because there was no suction. After that I went straight over tiles in a bathroom. Think Fatarm mentioned it. Unbelievable. You can forget blugrit and bondit - you don't need it. Just second coated as usual. Might as well have been on board. I don't get the bad rep for unifinish except maybe the price. It's a shame. It really is. Like a Shakespearean tragedy.
I'm always up for new things, been working in a Victorian terrace this last week, anyways I always have a bit of everything on my van, was running short of uni so decided to mix it up a bit (tbh don't think it's officially recommended but thought sod it), well chucked first coat uni on and laid in with some board finish, turned out sweet ! Only difference I noticed is didn't have latexy feel that the unifinish has but all in all was cool in the end.

That's my system with uni,,,,top it with board if suction is higher top it with multi.

With the blurb on the bags and the better bag quality I think it was really intended as a gateway plaster for diyers. Been around a few merchants this week getting some dri-coat and none stocked it. Drop the price, rebrand it, and it might sell. Like has been said, there's a wide range of backgrounds that still need PVA or wetting down. That's buried in the small print.

Also doesn't help with all the false info being spread on this forum? Just to add you can't use it for skimming tiles without a pre grit despite what some say on here.

I like it. It's good s**t. Just have the feeling it won't be around for long or very difficult to get hold. I agree about the misinformation on here. I don't get that. GPS s one man campaign to undermine the product is probably just bitterness because he didn't get on the BG scheme.

Recently or time ago ? Tbh I'm surprised there seems a few now that have had a bash with it

About a pallet over the past three or four months. I just wait for it to go out of date at b and q then get it at 50p a bag. They stock it in half pallets. Next one goes out of date in just over two weeks. Just used my final bag this afternoon funny enough. It's great on refurb. Old houses with glossed artex and oil based paint. Pity it's so expensive. Don't get all the trash talk about it. Could you speak to BG and get them to send me a pallet and I'll do a video or something?

One man campaign lol, minimum 98% of members don't like, don't trust or don't use but yes it's a one man campaign.
Wickes have never stocked it, travis Perkins do not stock it, most tradepoints no longer stock it but it's a one man campaign.

My grievance has never been with the product but the claims made, like it's quicker etc because it's all lies and mis leading, and that I do no like and will let everyone know about it.

Oh the scheme lol another resounding success

You may as well give it a tight coat of board adhesive & skim as normal .... and trouser the saving!

On the house ..

I don't know what's gone on between you and BG in the past. Obviously something has happened. But I wouldn't take the fact that Wickes don't stock a product as confirmation it's failed and is doomed. Do me a favour. Try it again. Let it stand for ten or fifteen minutes after mixing. Second coat with board finish. Then come back and tell me you've a problem with it. I don't think you will.

What part of I don't have an issue with the product didn't you understand ?

Is it just wickes ? who stocks it ?

I get mine from sig they do cheapest price around here on a pallet (29 bags)£8.50 each, they don't stock but get it in on next delivery, travis Perkins have had a few pallets in over last 3 months round here too, they do it £10 ish a bag, I didn't order it and they keep going so some other mucker is using it, on my turf too , cheeky git !

Well said! I have used it on a gloss painted ceiling and was ok, but would not use on a surface that was unsure about without pva, so is no use to anyone!
Even Vincey wont use it at rrp!!
