Work in sydney

There is still ATM a lot of work over East for plasterers, but please remember that a lot is Gyprock, not really a lot of Solid plastering over there, and going by the news and Internet, please look into things regarding the situation out here, as Perth has slowed Dramatically and Melbourne property prices have dropped down lower than 2014
It's really easy for people to say and think that Australia is paved with Gold?
A lot of young guys come here on a Years working holiday Visa and can then stay a further year etc and this usually is the case of then saying ohhh Oz is great?
Unless u end up actually staying here and building a home and trying to get work? Then most find it not so easy
I myself have a few Very great English plasterers, and they all say the same TBH as how hard Perth is and wish they had never came here, that's how hard it is with a family
ATM they are also shortening the 457 visa etc with the down turns out here, so please look into it all?
Thanx

Hi guys
Bit of a long shot.
A friend of mine is out in sydney and is struggling to find plasterers/renderers. He has an immediate start if anyone knows of anyone or anyone out there looking let me know and I will pass on details.
Cheers
Excellent opportunity for someone is this I wish I had the bottle for it

Yeah most brits think the grass is greener but I know a lot that go and come back... if you can get over and retire there and only need pin money to live then it is all good but so trying to start a plastering business :D

The days of making descent money out here in Perth are long gone, I have talked with plasterers who have worked here over 25 + years and their stories aren't great either about rates here
Yes the difference was the cost of living being so cheap and that helped, but now Perth is one of the most expensive places to live it's not what it looks like from the outside tbh
It's setting new records for all the wrong reasons ATM
Blue skies and blue oceans don't pay the bills tbh
It's okay for a lifetime holiday, one year working holiday visas etc as those people usually go home and tell everyone how great a time they had out here drinking beer and going to the beach everyday lol
The reality is working 10 hr days for such low mtr rates and supplying material is demoralising for so many Plasterers trying to make ends meet out here, the grass is diffo far from greener for so many plasterers

Fair play for being honest George.

How come you ended up working over there mate ? And what kind of work ? For how long did you stay?
Hi Vincey I'm still here in Perth mate, I came here back in 2011 after travelling out here in 2009 to do the AQFIII and gave a look around mate, after all the expense and hardship of trying to get a PR Visa after taking 2 years to get that all sorted with a lot of paperwork etc we immigrated in 2011, it's not like back in the UK and Ireland tbh as the materials and weather are not what u will be used to at all tbh
After working for a man for 2 years doing 10-12 hr days I decided to built a home and nominated myself to Plasterer the home, then I got most of this builders plastering all over Perth mate, I had at one stage around 17 plasterers working for me, but the truth of it all is, these project builders prices don't allow u to actually make much profit as the prices are so low mate, the stress involved out here is no where near like back home running a business mate, a plasterer in Perth is honestly treated like a second class citizen tbh
Yes people certainly come here and tell tails of drinking and beaches every day?
But unless u have a heap of money? Believe me, it's far from reality
Been here now 5 years and tbh like many before me, it looks as it might be homeward bound for me also mate..

Surely things will turn around George. Bad times can't last forever. It's a bit of a rollercoaster but things will be on the up again if you stick at it.

what did you do over there?

Rendering in Sydney area mostly
Solid plastering as it's known
Worked for a lebonesse firm(c**ts)
Then a Greek guy which was a good job 220 dollars a day which was decent with the rate at the time

Thanks mate, you done great to make such a big change and obviously not come easy always like to see/ read about big life changing events tbh always interested me to move around or have a big change but in all honesty I'm lucky with what I got here , travel a lot instead to see the world as much as I can. This year I got few places and things lined up to make year a bit more interesting than bump and grind of local domestic around here , wish you all the best for new year and looking forward to more posts off you.

Me and jane toyed with the idea of going to australia to live as we loved it but then we settled in down on the south coast now the move to anywhere seems a long way away :-\
