Unhappy with plastering work but unsure what to expect?

I've included the dog in a pic - do I need to put a newspaper next to the light switch or something? If he doesn't wanna help I wish he'd just bugger off though rather than stir.
This seems genuine account to me gps..kate is there any pic u can put up now to shut gps up? Preferably of you in the bath or sumat :)..only messing

Nos after looking at that pic I think it may be a wind up hahaha..even @zolco the Romany gypo wudnt board like that :)

In all seriousness...we asked if we needed to strip the rest of the plaster (we would have done it ourselves) but he assured us that that was the way it was done. I didn't question it, and didn't even know what to Google to check if that was right. I'll be honest, it didn't sound standard, but then what would I know? I've never plastered a wall

What SHOULD have been done?

Instead of putting about 10 offcuts in all he need to do was put 1 board in sat lengthways..

There are many ways to do this.
Hack off defective plaster and replace using sand/cement or proprietory damp proofing plaster then reskim whole wall flat & matt.

Hack off , slurry coat the exposed brickwork to hold back moisture and board the wall out using 12.5mm foil backed board (one thickness). Skim over.

Hack off, fix vertical battens to walls, board and skim.
There are many others here who have alternatives @imago,@Jgreenplastering

Think I would have used dri coat for the hacked off bit and then reskimmed everything. Might have worked out cheaper, and I wouldn't have had to naff about with boards ........hate boarding.....bad,bad........

Dnt talk to me about Dri coat lol..

Well there's the proof I hope all turns out well in the end for you Kate. Best of luck
Thank you. Still don't really know what I'm asking of another plaster..."fix this please?" Or "re skim this please"? Probably one of those things where they'll have to see it though, right?
