Hi spreads n scottish roughcasters. I've been plastering since time served, recently attempted roughcasting, got dry lines all over, ($%^*)swear word,
Problem was no access to hose tap was out back in mid terraced house, what is the alternative, i painted on slurry sbr mix, freeflo in mix, think freeflo might o been off, infact everything that could go wrong did, scaffold to close, poles everywhere, bracers, aw that crap. cutover is wanting it redone, tell the truth don't blame her, HELP NEEDED

cheers guys

maybe get someone along who is more experienced next time and learn from them ? you have to kill the suction properly, and then be experienced with the speed, set of of gear etc... good luck. sounds like its a re do mate..

what type of roughcasting are you doing? sand, cement and stone or pre mixed renders.
sort the scaffolding out first make sure you are comfortable.
kill your suction.
when you make a joint on the scaffold lifts do not leave a straight cut but cut a dogs tooth pattern to hide your joint.

Sounds like you didnt put enough freeflo through the scratch coat. I could come and help you if you like. Im in perth area. Work in fife all the time though. As said before you cant just jump from being able to plaster to rendering. You need to see how its done. How much free flo did you through a gauge and whats your scratch coat ratio.
