Hi guys, just booked myself on course at gold trowel, just wondering are people busy doing this type of plastering or is it just a job here and there, was going to really promote it when I finished this course defo think there is people wanting it, what yer rekon? Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum James. When you get a min go over to the introductions page and do it properly. I believe the market for this lone of work is increasing. So far this year has been a good one and I have plenty of venetian work to go at. Let us know how you get on at Goldtrowel. You will learn a lot from andy

I'm really trying to get into this market too. I done a course at Gold trowel a couple of years ago and have done a few jobs which have turned out good. Also im booked on Gold Trowels 5 day tadelakt course in October. It is a great place to learn and Andy knows his stuff for sure. Its an addictive product. I'm running out of room at home for practice boards lol

If anyone reading these posts needs a hand with a venetian/tadelakt job anywhere in the country i would me more than willing. cheers

interested in the tadelakt. youll have to let me know how you go on. never bothered with it so far as ive not really been asked. the only time i did i told the customer about microcement and got the job that way

I had a look at the applicart site that you mentioned for the microcement. Its certainly interesting. Is it easy to apply? With regards to the venetian plastering i've practiced some of the finishes to death at home and have now done a few local jobs which have turned out well. I'm just trying to figure out where to go with it here on the south coast and the best way of advertising it. I'd like to think that specialists finishes such as these will be my full time job in the next 5 years

Goldtrowel is probably the nearest place to you. I understand that you have gained some experience but I would recommend learning some more different finishes. There are lots to learn and some are sublimely stunning. I don't advertise venetian. I have a website and we get work from designers. A good start is to meet with some interior designers and show them samples of our work.

I've done a few days at Gold Trowel who are superb. Thats also where i've booked up for the 5 day Tadelakt course. I've compiled a list of interior designers, domestic and commercial over the last few weeks which once i'm one hundred percent certain i can get the finishes that i want to offer perfected i'm going to call and try to generate some interest. There certainly is some amazing finishes out there. I've just done a ceiling at home using a carrara first coat dragged, a second carrara coat to smooth out followed by a third coat of classic to burnish, all in white. It never ceases to amaze me how the movement comes through when compressed. I have to say i love the stuff!

Stick a pic up mike. Would love to see how the ceiling turned out

There we go. A couple of pics which hopefully can be expanded. Take no notice of the walls lol!!!!

Cheers Rob. Do you actually do the venetian plastering full time or amongst other work and how did you get to practice. Did you work for someone else or just plugged away on your own.

Work with two others. We all get work in and split the pay. Mostly do venetian now as it's taking off well. When it's quiet I fall back on plastering.

Where r u based rob ? Love the craft aspect of venetian but i live in liverpool. Dont think the demand is there

I think the lack of demand is due to the majority of people not knowing about it. I thought there would be very little demand here in Eastbourne but i've got a few of my decent clients interested. also i'm willing to travel wherever it takes me if it comes to it
