Not sure if this is the right place to be asking but oh well.

Job at current, client wants fire surround moved from dining room to living room. Fire surround is 3 big granite slabs (rough not smooth finish). Weighing at least 200kg each. Obviously 2 sides and the top.

Just wondering what to use to stick this to the wall, thin set?

The surround will also have support from stud work which will be going around it as we are insulating the house etc and renovating (lime build so its started crumbling so just giving it a blip over).

Cheers

You could use l shaped brackets and affix them to the fire place and the wall, some use dry wall adhesive to help fix them in, but yours is very big so I am not totally certain

Do they not already have some sort of fixing straps already ? how were they or are they fixed in place at present ? and could you not simply use the same method ?

Done the same recently mate removed fire surround, and replaced.

Obviously not on the same scale weight wise, but there were flat brackets attached on the back, slightly recessed them into the wall, and screwed them in.Skim as usual.
