Advice on a course?

Afternoon all. I'm really hoping for some guidance here as I'm totally new to this world.

I've currently spent 11 years in the RAF and am looking to gain a trade outside my knowledge. Both to help me in my house, and as a possible avenue should I turn my hand to something different full-time.

I'm a tad unfortunate in that work comittments don't allow me to go full time to Uni etc, but I can get day release, or a week or 2 to learn the trade basics (I appreciate it takes years to perfect the techniques).

Any advice anyone can give me would be most appreciated!
