Do yourself a favour......take away the 'young' bit, you won't want one. Go for someone in late 20's/early 30s......they might last more than a week, turn up on time and not complain that it's too hot or the bags are too heavy!

Kids today are something else.....I've tried recently and failed on both attempts.

Ok, serious post time....

your post is alienating a shitload of potential people who don't see themselves as a young en. It reads as if you're only prepared to train a young person, otherwise they're only fit to labour for you.

If you've got any weekend work or ad-hoc work on I'll labour for you, straight up...... I need the extra cash and wouldn't mind getting on the machines....you even know why I need the extra £££££s !

Anyway, I had a young lad send me a letter a month or so ago, if I can find it I'll message you his details....he seemed very keen.
 
People get pissed off with having to read through all the **** that idiots post and get fed up . There are areas on here for members to have banter . If you don't have an interest in a subject being discussed then move on .
 
It's because we want to train up a youngster as there isn't much out there for them and we as a company would like to five someone a chance . We have tried older lads who seem to to live in this dream world about the amount they are worth when most of them can only skim yet the walk around calling themselves plasterers .

My lad started with me 7 years ago ,always on time , never sick ,his Mobile stays in the van ,he knows more about the g4 then i do :RpS_blushing: and every site i work on ,all the other trades comment on how good he is ,they are out there ,he took a lot of time to get there .The lads just need pointing in the right direction ,it is a whole new world ,patience, respect and politeness to them i feel is the key ,i came from the world as a lad of "MUCK UP ,YOU **** "

Disagree with you there bud, it's the banter that keeps a thread alive and helps it get noticed by someone that may find it useful.
 
Started an 18 year old last week get a text this morning he has a cold, a F*****g cold in the middle of summer lol my missus just said it's the parents they should of sent him with a cold to be sent home this generation is truly ******. The internet generation want it all now and are not prepared to work and wait for it they want it now at the tap of a button. The whole apprenticeship system needs a rethink instead of giving kids the dole give it them as an apprentice so if I employ someone for four years it doesn't cost me a penny that is the only way I will ever send a lad through college and I know there are grants from the citb but that doesn't even cover the days when they are at college in wages never mind having to pay someone else on their days off. There is a shortage of skilled plasterers and it will only get worse the trade is being diluted to ****

Go into your local college ask the lecturer if there is one kid who is interested and go from there, I am sick of getting local kids I think my next call will be the college. You can get them for free for a week they need to do a week to pass some of the course my mates just took on two. It is a very sad state of affairs when I left school in 88 we were hungry for work Yeh there were wasters but seems the majority are wasters and the ones that are not wasters are going to uni to get a stupid degree in something they will never do. Where are all the people who come on here begging to work to **** all when you need them? Or is it more of an idea in their heads until it becomes a reality?
 
I have spoken to all the local collages but there not interested because we're only do external and machine work. Most collages are stuck in time teaching out of date methods.
 
What I have found mate. And you know that we have offered work on here, a lot come here and give it big but don't step into the ring when asked .
 
It's like today and all the remembrance about the first world war. Can you see any 17 year old going off to fight for queen and country . Unless they can fight using there x box in there virtual worlds they all live in then I can't see it.
