Too all the people who said well done thanks but I didn't mean to write this to be about me I just used myself as an example for others who may be coming out of school and thinking about college, you'll be surprised how many people look on building forums for opinions.
This is the Plastering courses part right? All I've done is give people who are thinking of getting Onto a course a extra bit advise with what they can do with it, that's not shouting about what I got is it?
Wheres every one getting this I'm qualified lark from? Spunkys little rant? I'm no plasterer by any means I may never be all I've simply tried to get across is these courses are good stepping stones to higher courses.
That's fair enough and I won't knock anybody who does like doing that sort of thing every ones different. I've only come on here to post some thing different to usual negative stuff about these course. Of course most people got the wrong end of the stick.
I agree your never going to be a master plasterer after a course I haven't said anywhere that you will, all i was trying to point out is the little pieces of paper they give you saying well done you can plaster can take you a long way.
Not at all, my educations been free till now so not tossed any money away. If I didn't get a trade back ground I would of done A levels but learning a trade seemed better to me and easier. Either way I'd still be in the same course/ carrier choice.
not trying to rub noses or nothing it's just other options for people who might takes the course, thought it might be another option for people obviously not. It's most deffinaly something different to read that all.
Ive completed a course with little experience 3 years (nothing really) which has opened up the door to go onto higher education so yes some day it will earn me a living.
where did I say what makes a good plasterer? Living it really all payed and ready start. Just thought I'd post other options for people who are thinking of Starting a course and might fall out interest with it half way through. And not end up wasting all that time.
Where does it say all good spreads start at school? Dunno why you've gone and got your knickers in a twist it was only an opinion on what courses can do.
All I read on here is that these plastering courses are a waste of time and people shouldn't waste their money on it and they would learn more mixing up for a spread blah blah blah, but are they really? I have recently finished my level 3 In plastering and i am now going into higher education...
Was doing a job 2-3 weeks back 100er for 12m2 of wall easy day I thought until I got there.
Gets there i'm working in a house with 6kids and 3 bedrooms (smalls ones too) 2 of them were a sleep with a gerbil in between them in the room I was working in , there's a pair of bloody knickers screwed...
I'm doing the same tomorrow morning 14 squared meters onto board for a 100er inc mat. Start at 10 be in pub by half 1 watch the footy with the lads then out on a hot date at 6.
Sorted! ain't a bad life aye
I don't really see what you can learn on these short courses especially for the amount you pay you need to be doing it for a few years to get any sort of idea what your getting into.
Shame your not younger you could of got a college course 3 days a week for 2-3 years like myself for free.
I...
Level it out with cement (fill in the low spots), key it, a good few pva coats then skim over it.
Or if your really not sure just hack it all off and re do it from the bricks with hardwall or s+c.
Job done, money in pocket then straight down the pub :RpS_thumbsup:
I tried through the college before they couldn't help me out because I was already funded once for the course.
I'll have a look online and get back to you this week.
I have not, need to do it! how fast can you book and sit the test?
Never been asked though been out on site few times not once, have I just got lucky?
If there's work in it for me I shall get onto it this week.
I would say try the local colleges but I asked a few of them the other day what do they plan on doing next to witch 4 out of 5 replied not plastering lmao
Though i'd just update you all, i'm about 2 months away from passing after finishing the practical side of things just need to sit the exams (piece of piss)
I decided to go into further education when the summer ends seems like every where I looked no one was hiring with out 5 years...
Not really a knob end painter status is it? a qualified, experienced plaster shouldn't be making these sort of mistakes? again might just be me being picky
Been out on site painting for extra bit of cash lately and the standard of plastering and boarding is piss poor.
Now only being a student plasterer I don't know a massive amount of site stuff.
I noticed the scrim coming through the skim, nails popping out on the boards, a few hollows in the...
If I were you I wouldn't bother starting to watch it either but yeh just like Jerry Springer show only difference is this is real.
you get a few Bristolians on there though! funny as f**k when they ramble on with the accent.
