    Evolution of Scrim Tape

To be honest most scrims I use these days stay up over night, often do it and never really come down. The fraying annoys me more then anything. Looks like good quality but not really ground breaking.

    Bathroom price

Or they didn't even pva it most likely. Pva will stick to shiny paint esp if you make it a little stronger. It just slides a little if not careful.

    Bathroom price

The suite is staying in? That is unrealistic...... take twice as long and won't look right at the end..... allow 2 days at least, them bits above the picture rail are fiddly and take time and then your going round sinks, radiator and toilet..... refuse to do it with sink toilet and rad/towel...

    Starting at bottom of gables

Lol brilliant idea. It's hard enough making sure the labourer don't hit it with a broom let alone droping s**t over it from 5 meters up.

    Barrel ceiling

Oh it's dajavu swear I just seen a thread like this?
  10. N

    Barrel ceiling

This is worrying, you were struggling on 20m2 not too long ago. Though if you have a spat of some sort I bet that would work pretty good on them. They make vaulted ceiling curves nice. Show us a pic of what you got, is it already built? Overskimming? Need boarding?

    Drop film?

I'm not a fan of covering everything up unless necessary but tgem drop sheets are awesome...... infact you just reminded me to order some more.

And today somebody asked about a heater.........
  13. N

    Heater Recommendations

I can't believe this is even asked in September .... man up a bit, it's not even cold yet. Failing that I got a little stanley fan heater that's pretty good. Don't buy the household ones they try burn the house down if on too long.

    Downsize van?

Looks like you adopt the same method as me........ f**k this I want to go home so it gets chucked in lol
  15. N

    Downsize van?

Used to have a mark4 with the rs turbo bodykit on in escos cossy blue..... I loved that one, still slow as s**t though, got ripped by the boss everyday and ended up scrapping it cos of welding needed underneath (wish I kept it now though)
  16. N

    Downsize van?

Don't do it...... just don't, I used to use escort vans all the time as you could fit 6foot straight edges on floor but doing domestics it is always full and normally end up emptying it to get to certain things..... just stressful b*ll***s, roof rack...... yeah great whistling along in the...

    Real plasterers tradesman

Me..... I guess. Float, set, outside renders, "some" pargetting, screed, dot and dab, hate artex but capable, fit but not make fibrous, tiling....... and now I'm part time college for plumbing. I try not to take on screeding and outside renders now as it's only me and I'm getting too old to mix...
  19. N

    Pva

Okkkk wasn't you the one saying you don't mind working for peanuts and we rip offs? Shows your experience......... Anyways lesson learnt as others said always be weary of boards that have been up a while.

    Lidl's at it again

My wee little xr125 that I brought from a 17year old, quite fun green laning, only fallen off once so far... not bad in 400miles on and off road lol
  21. N

    Lidl's at it again

Even has quick release for blades

    Best/most comfortable work trousers

Joggers from sports direct, second a bib and brace that can take knee pads that you don't have to pull up to kneel down

    Lidl's at it again

Well I went in for breakfast and thought as I got a jigsaw, circular saw and a drill all with seperate battery and charger thought sod it this will replace my Bosch 240v one until/if it breaks

    Mt permaflex

Damn you people, tell me about MT outlet and I'm debating wether to buy like 150quids worth of tools
  28. N

Feel like jumping out the window

I turned up blind as he told me it was new and flat (should have known), luckily customer understood that I couldn't lay tiles on that (at least not without alot of work) so had to pay me to level it so not too tragic..... just annoying cos it made me work today due to s**t builders ...... again
  29. N

Feel like jumping out the window

It's only 5m2, 3 bags of latex leveller, poured them in, squish em around and just as it turns use me metal feather edge to grind out high points. Still out of level but it is flat and nice to lay tiles on...... forgot to take photos of it all done tiles laid and looking good.
  30. N

    Mt permaflex

Wtf ..... where? Normally travel miles to pick up a trowel, be happy if there is an outlet on my doorstep
  31. N

    Drying time

If it's delivered there can sometimes be a r******d in it, but 48hours it should be firming up by now
  32. N

Feel like jumping out the window

Old thread but quite appropriate.... when are people going to screed right? It's not rocket science is it? I come along to lay these tiles 1024x200 rectified edges..... Yeah right "put some more adhesive under it"? Counts lol
  33. N

    Thistle Board Finish

The only time I've really noticed the difference between board and multi was the batches of multi that were setting fast and bits of paper in.
  34. N

  37. N

    Rendering needed in Braintree Essex

I live in Braintree, but busy till Dec. That is already painted..... are you intending to just go over the top? Because that does have massive risks..... risks I would not want to gaurentee.

    Jedi master

Your probably right but I didn't do the college part, just jumped on with an old boy and only really started learning when doing it.
  39. N

    Thistle Durafinish

I'm sure 7 years ago when I had cscs card to get on site all I had to do was sit a theory type test about h+s..... I have absolutely no qualifications either...... just relax man

    Refina sponge float

Tilers wash boy comes in handy
  41. N

    Trowel shape

Or just leave it and use it as you only notice cos your looking for it...... just a thought..... though I don't really look after my trowels much
  42. N

    Thistle Durafinish

That's what I thought...... wondering what all the fuss is about.
  43. N

whats the best plastering tip/advice youve been giving

One for the spongers, being a tiler too I use different sort of sponge floats all the time so why not use the wash boy to clean these sponges too .
  44. N

    Refina sponge float

Sponge is ok, does make 1 coating work well. One artex stipple ceiling, not even a very flat one. Quick scrap with floor scraper, Couple quick coats of pva had lunch: One thick coat, flattened off with speed skim, sponged then flattened with 16inch medi: One trowel medi: One trowel nelaflex...

    Plastering over tiles

Night on the tiles comes to mind
  46. N

    Smaller trowels

I'm too embarrassed to show pics of my trowels
  47. N

    Everyday plaster kit

Do you have a van to leave stuff in? Tbh that lot would cover most internal jobs as is........ maybe add a spat like speedskims...... just because you can. Might have to strap it to your back though
  48. N

    Towing a trailer

There is nowt wrong with going that speed, towing trailers and commercials are 60 limit anyway.......... But doing 57 compared to 67 feels soooooooooo slow lol
  49. N

    Tile direct to moisture board???

But he uses PVA...... that's not a good primer for tiling wet areas..... bit like using it to render outside..... it 're emulsifies..... not saying that it doesn't get used but it's highly not recommended for tiling
  50. N

    Towing a trailer

Just remember this is MAM...... I think that's like gross. I have had this one many times through towing sand around (same age as you) You need a trailer plated low enough. You can't tow a trailer plated at 3500kg even if it's not loaded. This is a minefield for problems tbh
