    advice on scimming a ceiling

    was thinking that the cove was decorative, forming a square around the outside edge giving you a square ceiling in centre, leaving from rail to other side of cove around the outer edge, ..do the centre then do the outer edge, its a bugger but with the curve, the one i did had old cove skimmed...

    great info, cheers again guys, it is stainless steel mesh, the old stuff is hanging on s/s mesh... just a case of replacing the old with new...internally its non hydraulic premixed in tubs. im wondering about the finish coat tho, whats the procedure from laying on to finish??

    as chris says....but do same both sides of the coving, if its a large area from rail to cove with the curve. id do it in 2 hits, ceiling first finish it tight to cove, then do from the rail to cove. takes longer but, you wont get caught out getting the curves right while your ceilings going off...

    great thanks for the info, this job is a listed builing 16th centry but its a mix of modern plasters and lime plasters, im being emailed the architects specs, so will know more in the next couple o days, the inner outside walls are gonna be limed but even then not all of them, and some outside...

    hi fellas need some info on lime plastering, if any have used it on brick or lathe, id love to know the method, i know i can get ready mixed in tubs, but its the laying on i need to know ie; how long between coats, can the finish be as good as modern gypsum plasters working with grade listed...

    im in kent and day rate for domestic seems to be 120-170 there abouts, im 130 but for builders who use me on a regular basis 100 a day, and they want you to work ya b*ll***s for that 100 too.for domestic I price on a day+ mats mostly which seems consistent with other spreads here, and even then...

    water damaged artexed ceiling area about 1 square metre

    hi stead. cut out the damaged area, so you have half a joist each side, fit a noggin if nessesary. Fit new board tape up joints and bring to level if you need too..i find using a thicker board ei, 12.5 mm can come level to the artex, but this does depend on the ceiling, old lathe n plaster can...
