Not quite mate.. Earn my stripes? I've probably been plastering longer than you. You probably couldn't do f/! K all without a speedskim and sponge float. Thanks for the advice tho I'll give YouTube a watch
My neighbour has just kicked his builder off the job after i had an argument about his attempt a weber rendering. I've got to do it myself now but I'm not sure what product or brand I need to use. I want to use a thin coat silicone render so will need to prime and base coat. What's the best...
Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at the one stop shop. I bought a nela carbon trowel a month or 2 ago and the front rivet popped yesterday. I gave them a call and sent them some photos and they've sent me a replacement already. Great service guys thanks
Yeah that's me mate. I might not do sand and cement rendering for months and then i get loads of it. I'm up for anything that can make my life a bit easier
I'm defo not gonna splash out a grand on the battery one but had my eye on a power float for a while now.whats the one from the one stop shop like if anyones used it?
Was thinking of getting a power float for rendering. Has anyone used them? Are they any good? Refinas the go to brand but one stop shop is selling one aswell has anybody used that one as well?
Cheers
I do pretty much every aspect of plastering my old refina is a 1150 (mm21)and its never struggled knocking up sand and cement render usualy 3 bags at a time same wth multi/bonding/hardwall it does 3 or 4 bag mixes no problem.my boss has got the 1800 refina and he prefers using mine
Has anyone on here got one of those makita mixers? They look very simular to the refina mixer. I might have to replace my old faithfull after 10 years service and just saw one of the makitas .theyve got a 1300w motor so there pretty powerfull. Any reveiws would be appreiciated cheers
those nela trowels are beasts to wear in I used one for rendering and floor screed for a year and still struggles to cut scrim with. I'll check ffx out online cheers
does anyone on here know where I can can get the old style ss Steele mt trowels that arnt pre worn? I like wearing in my laying on trowels the old school way but everywhere I look only sell the pre worn ones. Cheers
I miss the marshalltown internal trowels made with the wooden handles the build quality was much better than the durasoft ones they don't seem to last as long,I've gone through 3 or 4 in the last 2 years
most descent tool hire shops offer a repair service.i had the switch on mine replaced last year I think it cost me about £40 and I've had mine about 10 years
that's not realy the answer I was after mate I'm no amateur I've been plastering for 20+ years I know how expensive it is because I paid for it! I've done the first 2 coats already ,bedded mesh and beads but I don't wanna waste time and money by ruining it with the wrong trowel
hi everyone need some advice,I've gotta do some sto render in next few days and I'm not sure which trowel I need.im guessing the refina 11 inch with white blade? I've also seen people using one with a red handle but unsure of make any advice appreciated.thanks
I'll check out the rubber handle is it thicker?,they do look crude but I only started using wraps on the nela handles recently because I really like these new medi flex trowels there perfect weight for me but they cramp my hands after a while
ha ha I should of thought twice about that photo:D! It's a medi flex I use it for laying on and first trowels .its a thicker blade ,ill probably get told it's not for laying on but the results are great for me so its what I use
Does anybody on here know if nela make bigger trowel handles? I like the trowels but the skinny handles are killing my hands I'm using tennis racket grip tape to make them bigger but it's a pain in the a##e! I don't really wanna use my other trowels I like the finish I get with these but I'm...
I was asking because on of the guys at work bought a 14 inch trowel and he asked me to wear it in a bit for him,he's more of a multi trade so doesn't do much plastering.I was impressed I think it's a decent trowel and it's pretty much the same size as my mt possibly a bit lighter, not by much...
I finally got one and I've been using is just for flattening medium sized Areas of skimming,it's not bad the handle makes it a lot more comfortable to use and it's great to be able to change its position. I got the 0.3 thickness blade which in my opinion is a bit to thin but they don't seem to...
marshalltown have finally jumped on the band wagon with the flexible trowels,it looks exactly the same as a nela s*p*r*lex but twice the price.£70 for a 14 inch trowel. I don't think they will be selling too many at those prices
I've got my eye on one of these new super prof twister spatulas.i like using the 600mm spats to flatten smaller areas but I'm getting cramp in my hands when I use them. These new ones might be the answer as they've got proper handles.has anyone got one? Are they any good? Cheers
Has anyone. Used Travis Perkins plastering sand? I've gotta render with the stuff and its got no guts,I'm tempted to mix some sharp with it has anybody had the same problem?
Yes I can float, they've all got different names I think it's a spat tho. I really don't know why I can't get on with them they leave lines all over my work, just don't find them easy to use
I've got the 800 metal one it leaves a much better finish.I was gonna get one of the plastic ones but I haven't seen anyone using them yet so I don't know if there any good
I've tried using the speedskims for 2 weeks now I can't get on with them at all so they've gotta go . I got one of the refina equivalents the other day and it's great to work with already. I think the metal blades are definitely my preference
I've been using the speedskims for a week now on new board work and old surfaces and I can't get on with them ,they leave lines everywhere I know everyone is gonna say I must be s**t but I've used my mates refina and eze spats and there brilliant no lines at all
