been asked to plaster above existing kitchen cupboards and round the cupboards on 3 walls everything is working up to coving, skirting, architrave and cupboards,
seems like a b!tch job climbing over kitchen cabinets and working over the cupboards onto a small area of wall, having to climb up...
what do u guys say is the right depth of backing plaster (hardwall or bonding) i hear different things
6mm 8mm 10mm 12mm 2 x 6mm etc etc
also do u go one coat or on in two layers

do old skool 20/30 yrs in trade look down at young spreads generally
seems like they dispise anyone looking to get in the game, dont like people standing on there toes

3 walls in kitchen work is mainly above kitchen cupboards and a few bigger areas, and loads of obsticles, not a lot in sq meters but time consuming and awkward, 2 reveals

hi i just done my first skim job alone (at home) came out well, but on the wall (one in particular) after drying out there is white marks on the wall not above or below the surface but just there :-/
what should a skimmed wall look like after the wall is dryed out i know it goes light...
how u get a start in it, what route did u take and y did u wanna get into it, how did it happen
i'll started off doing a two week full time course and then got taken on as a labourer/improver with a pro which i plan to do for a good while b4 breaking out on my own 8-)

are these only used when your skim both walls into a corner and they both walls r wet? or as well as just one wall?
r they any good? or is it better with a trowel and just work out each way from the corner
i only used it once on a course :-/

few weeks bk i started a wall not in the top left corner but about 3 quarters up the wall on the left and the gaffer had a fit when he saw it! it was like i had insulted his family ;D

the way i was taught, is applying ya plaster with small trowel, then pull out the massive bugger just to reduce lines and move about what u all ready put on the wall while its still quite wet, then leave and do few trowel down with small trowel again
