    If you’re struggling to find anyone to do it I can have a look at the job for you. We do a lot of work around Chipping, Hurst Green etc on the stone properties.

    Was it rendered with putty lime or hydraulic ? If he’s used putty lime mortar it looks like there is no pozzy in the mortar.

    Sounds a bit too cement rich. I would have replaced one bucket of cement for a bucket of sharp sand. The lime is to make the dash sticky so the stones can get coated in mortar in the mixer.

    We got it done, it’s taken three months to complete, two of us. Lath and plaster three coat lime, ribs run in situ, Cornice run in situ on scotch brackets in lath and lime work Fibrous work to corbels. Curves fitted. Been a head scratcher at times.     I been lucky enough to have been in Wythenshawe Hall, Been to look at a ceiling that needs doing. Re lath and plaster, cornice to run around the room, recast and re hang 4 corbels and 4 ribs to run insitu. Had a look at some of the restoration work that’s been done, it’s absolutely outstanding.

    We’re getting nearly 8 tonne of mortar from 1 tonne of quicklime so the savings are almost half

    It’s good stuff, we use tonnes of it. Very fatty & right price too, the job we’re on now we’ve mixed our own stuff with quicklime and let it stand for a few weeks.

    It’s harled by hand mate, They’re slate stacks dubbed out with haired lime, scratched on, butter coated and dashed. It’s a dashing mortar from limebase. Putty based mortar with pozzy. Then they’re getting a coat of Kiem paint.
