lol so it seems I have found a good course provider then, you can't expect to learn any trade in the matter of weeks, I thought 4 months was cutting it short !

They do NVQ's but you must have work experience for level 2 or 3

You can't do an NVQ until you have work experience which means you need to get qualified first. I'm using ATT who are a local course provider and funded by the Job Centre which is a bonus, there are shorter courses like you say but I wouldn't feel right being qualified in a month, this is a...

I am doing a short course but not as short as some, mine is a 4 mnth Diploma, then after some work experience it will be the NVQ's, I would never go and do a job if I didn't feel I was capable of doing it, and I would never leave it a mess if I did **** up as I know tradesman who would help me...

Thats sound advice thanks, I have a FB account and know how to make a business page on there, I have just set my Twitter account up but that seems more confusing than FB what with all these #tags and what not, can you do a business page on Twitter too ?

Thanks for your input fella, i'm very confident that i'm making the right choice, nothing can be worse than earning £7 an hour in security. When I decide on doing something I give it my all and will perfect the art, nothing should be done half arsed. My biggest worry is having enough money...

No worries fella it's always good hearing different opinions from tradesman, ideally I would like to be a Gas Engineer but that's a longer course and expensive too, may think about doing that when I start working.

Obviously not trying hard enough Johno ;-) You could have done an evening/wkend course to get out of plastering, I don't think i'm too old at all, i'm fit and healthy, fitter than most younguns tbh, I work hard and like to graft, done plenty of labouring before, takes longer to get qualified as...

Smokey, i'm in the same boat as you, what I have done is contact local plasterers for advice and some have been very helpful, what i'm doing is a 4 day induction course with a local course provider to see if it's what I want to do, I will then do a 4 month Diploma which will qualify me to go...
