waterproofer in floating coat seems to be problem here ( i personally think it should never be used inside) to much waterproofer means wall have no suction when the scim coat is applied the first coat laid on never really drys the finished wall drys from the outside in a chemical reaction...
to bridge gap internal use PVC profile bead with pvc wing attached remove backing tape stick bead to doorframe dab board set into gruve an stick to reveal scim it when set remove povc wing leaving door frame clean and tidy
external fit stainless steel stop bead across gap if gap less than...
cheap isn,t always the best when dealing with brick and the reason for using lime in the scratch i find it bonds better to rend aid and has less water retention and reduces the shrinkage in the finale coat with less chance of crazing ----i might be wrong but it seems to work for me
