Hello All
Looking for abit of advice on best forms of drumming up work. Sick to back teeth of site agents taking the pee, and new build is becoming laborious . I'm abit of a dinosaur with technology, and only get word of mouth work, or the new build. Is website, yell.com, Gumtree etc the way forward? Young lad says Facebook is good, but I'm not on it. Do I need to move with the times? Cheers

Website

Facebook is only good if you are active on it... twitter works... drinking in a pub works welll

Yea move with the times.
You get out of advertising what you put in.
So do a good job keep clients happy word of mouth will be your best bet.

You go on gumtree you'll get muppets who want a job for nothing.
You go on rated builder my hammer etc, you pay for leads for some and get some decent jobs, some messers.
Checkatrade works for me really well but you need to use it to your advantage, also check there's not already loads of spreads in your area on it!
A website is good, see @Danny the owner.
It's what works for each individual really.
Some will be good for certain people and not others etc
If your going from site to domestic I'it's basically like starting again so go that extra mile for your first few clients and let the work speak for itself!

There are plenty of shite plasterers that are stacked with work because they are good at marketing and there are plenty of awesome plasterers sat at home twiddling their this because they suck at marketing....

Sign written van works... but if you don't have any work don't leave it on your own drive... move it somewhere... lol don't want the neighbours to know you are quiet :)

I've never entertained Facebook as I don't care what geeks at my old school are doing, what my misses friends kids are doing or having for tea, and i don't want an affair.
Where do you find the affairs on Facebook?

Cheers Chaps,
Great advice. Never thought I'd take good advice from an owl!! (utb)
Will be in touch Danny re website, and get with the times..

I have pretty much unfollowed everyone on facebook now... then if I want to I can look at what they are up to but got fed up of seeing friends kids or the posts that are attention seeking or the twisted updates that are aimed at one person but there for the whole world to ponder over....

Won't be long before I close my account... if it was not for social media for my projects I would have gone a long time ago with a lot of others....

Got rid of my Facebook account months ago. I think it's had its day and numbers are dwindling.

Van sign written and Website is all I'd do. Don't have either at the moment but I'm busy enough without. When or if I struggle for work I'll do both.
