NVQs Are Required for your CSCS Card Application/Renewal. By achieving an NVQ Level 2 you can apply for the Blue Skilled Worker #CSCS card

In order to be eligible for a CSCS card you will need to have or be training towards a recognised construction related NVQ.

CSCS use your NVQ Qualification as proof of your knowledge, skill level and competence in your chosen construction role.

Here's a thought. @Geason. Does anybody actually fail to achieve the NVQ? No doubt you allow x amount of visits to the operative in which to gather proof that they can do their respective job. If they are utter shite at their job, do you refuse them the NVQ, or do you keep visiting them until they pass? Somehow I don't see you doing anything for nothing. Do you charge extra for additional visits. I reckon you probably just give the NVQ out, no matter how much of a fucktard you are dealing with.

Tony M - this is me just seeing this notification im still learning the my way around new forum.

Thanks for your concern Tony but if someone isn't competent we would withdraw the Nvq and offer them an apprenticeship route or further training at one of our Ofsted grade 1 training academies.

What if say a person attended what they thought was a well funded college for a poxy level 2 diploma (not NVQ) and it turned out the college and it's staff were under funded and all together useless, and didn't teach the full practical assessments for level 2, leaving said student at a major disadvantage.

When I did mine about 7 years back we were all working for a large plastering firm.
Labourers were getting there nvq cards even though they could do a bit of floating up!!
I was sat next to a lad that had the same card as me and had only been a labbie for a year or so!!

It's just diluting the qualification. Any qual that can be government funded I.e level 2 NVQ is just a ticky box exercise in my experience. Shame really cos it's the learner who suffers while the training provider coins it in

to be honest the cscs carded scheme really counts for nother i have 22 years balls deep in the plastering world "old school" as we call ourselfs and you have kids
running around with nvq level 3 thinking they are plasterers..really?one word to all you newbies out there "EXPERIENCE"counts for everything!

But wont get on site with it :)

yes but that was not my beef the reason that was posted was purely down to the fact it is a card with your quals listed and you have pasted your health and safety weather you have a cscs gold card the bottom line is you need at least 10 years min experience before you are going to get recognised as a decent spread.i have my cscs card but at the end of the day you spread you muck with your trowel not your cscs card..:)
