I've done some patching before with multi finish but never had a go at doing a wall.

I decided to have a go on a section of wall in a cupboard. I had a go yesterday but I didn't leave it alone so I ripped it off.

Had another go tonight. Pva on last night and just before today. Got the plaster on much quicker and was looking promising at first. Got rid of the towel marks and left it.

Went back when it started to go off and towelled off again. Wasn't great. I used a light to show the detail and I seem to be good at making horizontal waves in the plaster :( I maybe should have made a bigger batch.

Any advice/thoughts appreciated!

If your putting lines or ridges in it, then your probably going over it too soon. Or it could be the angle of your trowel, or how firm the plaster was when you put it on etc, etc etc. Practice on plasterboard to start with if you want to do more diy plastering so that you get use to how the plaster goes off. Unfortunately different backgrounds, environments etc effect plastering & rendering which is something you learn through experience over time.
