Hi all, ripped of an old ceiling due to roof tiles leaking. Only noticed when putting up the boards and screwed them in, I noticed one edge of the board was'nt level to the next. I had a 5mm depth difference from one joist to the other. So ended up using scrim tape and bonding plaster.
Is there any other way of doing this?
BTW im workig nights in a school hence the late post

Thanks

you could have pinged a line between the joists and then could see what difference they are if they are bad then cross battening and using packers is the way I have done it in the past :D

If its small then bonding and a rule and off you go :D

Line the side of joist with timber to pack. Or.. I have put a fast set plaster along joist then set plasterboard on. When set after an hour screwed board. Or.. I have also put a 10mm hole in board and shot some low expansion foam in to pack it board to joist. That works well on older boarding ceilings

All that extra work for 5 mm difference :LOL:

Best to just add a new timber to side of existing
Drop it to where you want
Jods a good un ..

I never rip down ceilings. Only ever overboard. If theres a bulge i either try to screw it up or take that part down only and lat the joist with plasterboard strips.

Hey thanks guys, using packers and the board is nice and sterdy, im absolutley knackered but cant complain with whats gone on in Manchester.

5mm difference on a ceiling. Just bond the ceiling ffs and that'll take it out. If you don't want to wait on bonding, just use more skim in places and before near set, use the sponge float where its pulling on ya.
