H i all priced a room for plastering and coving which the customer has already got,
thing is i,m not keen on using the adhesive which is in a tube and looks like clear glue.

Can i get away with using normal coving adhesive the coving is quite ridgid but its not paperfaced
feels like polystyrene on the label it says duropolymer never put this type up before so any advice appreciated.

No
Use the stuff they've supplied. Coving adhesive won't work.
Thread over

I would pva the back of the cove, pva the wall/ceiling and then use plasterboard adhesive. Just wouldn't trust a 'glue'.

I'd just decline the job tbh and give a price for supply & fit with gyprock.

Bet you can supply cheaper than the crap they are asking you to use...

Just softly educate then in it being a better product etc.

Just do the job with what they've supplied and tell them if it fails it's not on your head. Literally.

Is it branded as an Artex product ? I have used there's before without issue as said in the first reply just use what they are supplying but, and I reaslise this may be controversial, READ the INSTRUCTIONS.

I agree entirely but they have already got the coving £28 a pack with 4 in the pack i prefer
the gypshit stuff and cornice i can put that up all day long whistling a happy tune.

Rough the back edges up (what you normally apply adhesive to) with a rasp. Then use drywall but knauf not bg shite.
Alles Klar? Fritz Schmitz

Put it up with the gear they have supplied it's easy to put up, just use a new saw with small teeth for cutting.

they have not supplied any adhesive thats why i asked if i could use an alternative
looking at the price of the adhesive i,ll probably use gripfill none solvent looks the same product different lable.

I always use adhesive ,am with marshy never had a problem ever ,just pin them with nails just at the edge and take out after set and fill .

I used to use solvent free gripfill, now I'm back at using dab after on one job 2 big rooms needed to be redone completely. It perfectly adhered to the coving but was just separated from the ceiling and walls, nightmare

i,ve done the job the customer was happy she said her friend wants coving done at their place
i did say does she want normal coving oh no they want what you have just put up.
i,m having nightnares already cant use a coving cutter as it marks easily and had to get used to using a miter box again which is now buried back in the van. love gripfill.
