Whats the crack with all this lark. seems to be alot of devices with big pu moulded handles on the market /

Are they all the same or what and what does each one do ?

any in use on render ?

I only use for skim so far, the speed skim is ( my opinion) to flatten in the first coat and then the second, leaving to pull in before you use the eze Zapata for flattening, I prefer the super or Excalibur for troweling in , the are best for big flat areas, the eze spats are strong enough for modern renders, and would help break them in, the eze also have exchangeable blades. The super and Excalibur are great but have no exchangeable blades and if nicked are ruined, at eighty pound a pop, it would ruin your day.. Everyone has varying opinions on all of these..

I think one of them has a metal blade which can be used on render............not 100% cos i anit get either

Ive been using the Refina s*p*r*lex stainless trowels for a couple of years and apart from being a little heavy give a great finish and are well made. I have the 12 and 16 inch versions, they are on offer at the moment ive just ordered an 18 inch.

I used the speedskim on mono to very good effect.

After the serrated edge I gave the wall fine mist of water to stop it tearing and pulled the speedskim across. Closed it in lovely.

so whats the difference in the metal on the blade to a normal spat ? and therefore apart from the size whats the difference at all say in a 600mm device and a normal refina 600mm spat

I have a trowel - never thought it was a solution to the usual trowel though - I find it closes the surface down more than say actually trowel it up therfore any bumps etc that are firming up never came out and is it me or do they need breaking in alot ?

I like the flexibility of the blade design and yes they need to be used alongside your old trowel for a while but now it is great for both coats My advise would be to stick with it over time.. It's also kept its shape well over the 2 years. The Tyzak ready to go I didn't like at all.

I picked up a lads super flex trowel, it was heavy the handles horrible and the blade was bent all over the shop save you're money

Used my new speed skim 1200mm today think its the nuts brilliant for flattening off between coats saves a bit of time and can chuck more on!!!!! Need to try it on floating and rendering now

Id like to try the s*p*r*lex trowels out. I use Refina 14, 18, 20 usually at the moment.

used the speed skim twice this week since buying it and it did exactly what it said on the tin . dunno why some peeps are so negative about it. it flattens of very well and at 1200 long it covers area quik , happy days.

with the s*p*r*lex trowels or spats alike

are you lot taking anything off when going over the walls or are you keeping it closed blade and flettening rather than troweling ?

Flattening is the aim, but ......' Timing is the key , much easier on big areas , small areas need patience

Had a set of shiny speed skims delivered today just opened the box and thought they had sent me some thermabate cavity closures by mistake!, but cant wait to get to site tomorrow 200% more skimming! happy days are here again,

I was working on a job today with my uncle skimming a barn conversion today and I had a wall go all funny on me drying one side and tacky on the other. So he brings out his 18" plaziflex out and says "go over it with this, I think you'l like it"
It was good. One more rub after with the steel and it came up a treat! I do like it and the missis is gonna buy me one for me birthday
