Do your course, pass your course, wait for your certificate, send off your certificate to cscs card issuers then await return of your card and certificate. They will not issue a Trades card unless you send your original pass certificate ie you can not just send a photo copy, fax or scan and email it.

I have passed it!!

after all that you will be able to go and work on a building site for peanuts and compete against a load of easterns, be stopped 20% of your earnings tax, poss deduct 2% citb payment. another days wage lost in fuel costs. so you may finish up having to live on 3 days earnings. i would sit down and have a think if i was you!

Was it level 2 diploma course or was it level 2 nvq? If it was the first one (diploma) you wont get a trade card with that. You need to get an nvq for the trade card

also you dont need to send the cert off anymore as its computerised they just pull it up at there end and hey presto, pay your money and card will arrive

Yes ryan in order for you to obtain your cscs trade card you need the NVQ level two or above.
The diploma contains all the units you need for obtaining the nvq, just you need to have the on site assessment in order to get the NVQ, but im sure i will be corrected on this one.

Anyhow im sure that you will get it eventually good luck to you,

hello chizam
there are a couple of ways to get a card,
1: you could apply for a green card (site operative) straight away, you just need an employer to sign to say you have worked on site, this card will allow you on site but is not trade specific its more for labourers (you may also have to do the new level 1 course to get one). ask c skills to be sure
2: apply for a red experienced worker card (this is trade specific so it will say plasterer on the back) which give you time to convert your previous experience and training into the NVQ (workplace diploma level 2) either by having on site assessments to confirm your knowledge and competence or the EWPA (experienced worker practical assessment) route which is the fast track route (1 or 2 days). the on site assessment route is the easier option but takes longer.
this will then mean you can have a blue operative card with your plastering qualification on the back

whichever route you choose you will also have to pass the CSCS health and safety test
good luck (its not as complicated as it looks)
ask CITB / C Skills for your nearest assessment centre

for someone with no experience... a fair bit of time... someone experienced... its not too bad, a few months or so... puddove will tell ya..

Why would you need an nvq to get on a building site? As long as you have any cscs card nobody is arsed.

hi leebo - don't worry about the classroom at your age, its the lecturers you've got to watch out for ...... they.re barstewards :RpS_laugh::RpS_lol:

depends on the standard of work, speed and how much you slip the on site assessor :RpS_laugh::RpS_lol:

it is two weeks from the start to the finish? wow. how much? i have spent considerable money already on a course but it was not NVQ. what is the nearest center from warrington? if i emmigrate to australia or new zealand is this the certificate that they will request? thanks

No

Different thing for working in Aus , and from listening to other ppl money is no better than here.
Depends on how long you have been plastering, you could go down the EWPA route which usually is one or two on job visits, can be sorted in a few days, If you are in Warrington theres a place in Liverpool that can organise it for you Mortimore Enterprise i think look them up on web, you may even be elligible for some funding towards the cost
