Train for your NVQ
After signing up with Geason, you choose which qualification you require and after 12 weeks you will be awarded your City & Guilds NVQ.

All of our training is delivered by qualified NVQ Assessors who work within the National Occupational Standards laid down by the Construction Industry Training Board – the CITB as it is known throughout the construction sector. In addition – all the training staff have many years of experience in working in the building industry and have a successful track record of being self employed as construction workers.

Get a CSCS card

Once you have got your NVQ, you can apply for a new Blue CSCS card.

You won’t be able to apply for a renewable CSCS card without an industry recognised qualification and therefore your access to construction sites will be severely restricted, thus affecting the job opportunities you are eligible for.

just being discussed on another thread , you stated '' after 12 weeks, you will be awarded your C and G.. NVQ '' that just about sums up this qualifications worth hey ?....

It is a City & Guilds NVQ you receive ? They are the awarding body, i don't get what you mean ??

Remember an NVQ is to prove the workers competence, clearly if they aren't competent and need more training it will take longer than 12 weeks but you know yourself these guys have been doing the job for years on years some just don't hold the paperwork to prove their skills, which is a shame really.

Thing is though, are they actually being properly assesed ? seems these NVQ,s are handed out too easy, bringing the assesors companies more money in.. do the companies get paid when the NVQ is completed succesfully ?

If a 17yr old can get an nvq after a years training - a worker plastering for 25 yrs should be given one if his skills are recognised by an assessor. So what if it takes a week to prove his competence

If this experienced worker is fully competant, then of course he should get his card, thing is, how many chancers are getting the card who have no idea, and how fully are the assesors being ? the more they pass, the more their employing company earn ?

yeah just read that that top line twice cassie, just about sums up the two and eight of things out there! 12 weeks?? erm yeah good luck with that, no offence to anyone, but you can not buy experience, as time will tell

So here's a scenario @Geason. You are currently saying there are grants for Drylining available in certain counties. Surely your assessors would need to assess every aspect of this sub-trade? I'm a dryliner and would be classed as a fixer/finisher as I do both. I can do all of it but I don't do an awful lot of metal stud partitions. I could go 12 months plus without doing any, so how can your assessor, assess me on it? Surely I can't take you to a previous job and say "I did that", that would be too easy. How do you get over that? I can't see you making me go to a college somewhere where there is a little test room set up so I can show you I can do it, because that would cost money out of your fee, wouldn't it. Seems to me that it's just open to abuse.

I did my nvq 6 years back although 20 years in the game
I was told to hold to hold a straight edge against a finished dabbed wall.
Also held a float up against a wall I rendered the week before.
These pictures were acceptable.
It's a joke

We don't deliver an Nvq to anyone under 19 years old. We would offer them an apprenticeship as we would know they are not competent.

We would then take you to one of our grade 1 training academies and ask you to deliver that part of the nvq in the inbuilt house we have available there..

when you say inbuilt house, do you mean perfectly straight walls and ceilings to work on?? unlike the real world, where we are expected to get over things, that, how shall i say are - "a little bit out"

Nope, how can we have it like that when we are training apprentices how to start from scratch ?? Next time your in Manchester or Falkirk take a walk in and you ll see exactly what i mean. Its a massive centre with bits for bricklayers, dry-liners. Plasterers, loft cavity and ewi and painting and. Decorating all in shape to start off from at beginners level and work up to a competent level

There was a Geason sign written car leaving the Jobcentre car park in St Austell today.

So how would this work for me? I only do fibrous plastering. I don't render. U don't float. I don't screed.

What nvq can I get? I've got a green cscs card at the moment
