Any tips on how to remove paint from blockwork. The paint gets rightly into the nooks and crannys and realistically 75-80% of the paint would want to be removed followed by a god scabble. i have to plaster this wall with a napp finish when it is ready but the builder in charge of this job has his own 2 men trying to get it ready for me for the last 2 days. they have 2 small grinders and 2 rotary wire brushes but headway is extremely slow.i suggested a scabble and riblathe to him yesterday but he has only allowed 2 days for paint removal and scabble. He is now in his third day of prepping. The budget aint there for buying riblathe so he is carrying on with grinders and wirebrushes.Im just wondering are there any other ways of removing the paint.

No quick solutions, he should have priced it accordingly. Cheap alternative is galv eml. Not ideal but that's the thing with not pricing properly, you have to cut corners to make it pay

Get a company in with a steam cleaner the same that are used to remove graffiti
got a mate that runs one and it will shift anything mind you they cost 45 grand so would expect it to

Bond it and a tight coat of bonding.

If it's stuck that well use 1 of the many bonding agents and go over it.

Petrol/Diesel powered pressure washers can be hired nowadays. I bought one and they are perfect for stripping paint off masonry. Just another option in many.

I thought this was an internal job. The op said he needed to plaster the wall. Not render it.
