I'm just moving into the 20th Century and getting myself a render pump (elbows shot to bits). Anyone know of any decent training courses ? I've been doing Sand and Cement and Mono's for years by hand, but I really fancy investing in a bit of training before I get out there with a pump. I've been googling and can't find anything better than the Weber or Krend day courses. If anyones in the Gloucester area and wants a few days free labour, I'd be happy to come along and see how it all goes down.

looking for actual rendering technique training Scottie. P 1 S S only show you how to use the pump

If you want to put sand cement through it bear in mind it will all go off at the same time

Yeah I know buddy but like anything, you want to be doing the best job right from the start. When we do a 50M2 K-rend, there isn't alot of ruling off going on because we're up against it. The H bar sorts that out on the scratch back but it's alot of waste. I'm just after learning a few tricks of the trade, rather than trying to learn too much on the job and having problems that the customer won't appreciate. You know what I mean

That's miles away from me Stuart, but I'd definitely be interested if it's on the right dates buddy. When are you thinking ?

Totally mate, but don't think you're going to learn how to run a machine in a couple of days by watching and getting involved
that's what I mean spraying and rulings the easy bit the rest is having someone who knows there schnizzle like stu to fall back on

Yeah I get you. I've actually bought a machine, had a demo and I get a commission day when it gets delivered, where we spray a job and they are there to make sure we set up, and clean up OK. I'm not massively concerned about being able to get the pump running right, I just wanted a few hints on spraying. I'm a fussy f**ker, probably just worrying too much about getting it perfect from day 1 ! Appreciate the feedback though mate, feel like it's a big jump from trowel to machine. Sure I'll be well into it pretty soon

Hi Guru, we also teach on how to apply as well as the machine. Obviously it isn't like being on site. We can point you in the direction of local firms who are doing this who may be able to help. What machine have you got?

The one thing I think you will have to learn (or get used to) is that 50m a day isn't being up against it. If you have a pump you will be expected to turn double that out to cover your overheads and make money. Also main contractors look for subbies who have pumps usually because they want turn around.

We had one a few weeks back nearly 300m of ashlar 1 week window. Bearing in mind you lose time doing cuts.

I personally think that if you ate trying to learn to render properly and flat and how to become a machine applicator you may have a lot on at first.
Probably better to get tip top on your rendering technique so that when you have a machine problem day you can cope with it without the job suffering.

Get down with Stu as he has offered. Maybe he can get you a ton of metres on the wall and all you need to do is rule rule rule.

Offer you can't refuse. Ruling is the best bit.

If it all works out you won't look back.

what machine u got

50M2 is plenty when hand applying nice and flat matey, unless you're super spread ! ! I got the machine so that I can get loads of M2's on. I can do a bang on job by hand, I've been rendering and plastering for over twenty years. It's just that thing of switching to a new system, I don't want to make any mistakes on a customers job. And I've got a Strata MP 016

If you want some free labour, let me know Stu. I'm sure I'll make it worth your while and I'll be glad to see some experienced guys doing the business. Can I pm or email you for some details buddy ?

Well that said you should be OK. Just take your time at first, thats not a fast machine anyway so you will be OK I recon.

Yeah I meant 50 pumping not by hand. I wouldn't put 10 bags on by hand anymore :D

That machine is similar spec to a Ritmo so I am sure that's what @PFTwales will be using on the Carmarthen job hive him a shout

It's been getting some good reviews and the demo was comprehensive. The fellah doing the demo and the sales was sound as a pound so that's why I chose them. I think they sell the Putzmeister machines as well, the massive tow along things. What machine do you use

Use a Pft 3phase with generator bit we had a demo on that recently.

The company who make em also make em for putzmeister too as far as I am aware a badge is a badge at the end of the day I thought it was really good little machine that. I would happy have one.

Keep us posted how it performs etc. Not many on here running them yet.
