Hi iv got a job to do with weber pral some is thermalite panels with red brick which I'm putting rend aid and full mesh on. The other part is fully in toplight blocks (lightweight white blocks with plenty of key)

Has anyone ever gone on these with mono? Did you just one coat it? Full mesh or just mesh stress points? What's suction like?

I thought if I didn't need rend aid on the blocks for suction control I'd spray over the rend aid part then spray the blockwork then scrape it in reverse if suction is making it go faster.

I aint done the coloured stuff yet ... But am sure u need even suction other wise you can get a colour difference ?

I done them without rend aid few years ago the builder wouldnt pay for rend aid reckons all it needed was wetting down .... Cracked all over the place

Well iv read about them on the spec sheet and they say they can be 2 coat rendered with sand n cement but I don't like the look of them they just look like they should be dot n dabbed internally and nothing else I think I'm going to advise rend aid and full mesh over the lot. For an extra few quid I think it'll be worth it.

Who puts mesh in their rend aid? Or do u do it in first pass of mono?

The brick red is a shite colour to rub up cos the colour is inconsistent. I always put mesh in the rendaid and then stress patches in the 1st pass of mono

I usually mesh the rend-aid but bearing in mind how thin Rend-aid is, I am now if I can putting stress patches in the rend-aid and fully mesh the mono if time allows. Bit of a bugger when you are the only mesher upper and ruler offer and spat flattener! Keeping up with the sprayer on-er takes some doing! But I think the thicker top coat is better meshed and gives more anti-crack confidence. Did a job last week and fully meshed both coats with the mesh pinned back. 40m2 in 2.5 hours I was knackered at the finish line. Sprayer couldn't give a monkeys!

Why don't you just spray then rigs? Sounds like your busting your ass and your the gaffa

The spraying part is easy Arti ,what make it look good is the ruling off ,PFT have not come up with a machine that can do that yet ,

Aye marra. But rigs is getting run ragged Bless him. Does the bloke spraying not drop back and help rule off when he's finished.?

I see what your saying mate ,my mate is like a Jack Russel around me ,but it is down to the team your working with

My sprayer is useless at ruling off and then he gets into a raging bad temper. But I have had words with him about it. I am wanting to do the first pass while he follows behind flattening the 1st pass then meshing then we swap over and I rule the second pass.

Shifting tons of wet material around with just 8 fingers on the serrated edge makes your fingers ache at the end of a spray.
