Does anybody pva over blue grit before they skim? I know the pva controls the suction and the grit provides a gd key. Only used blue grit a few times tbh and never used pva on it gave me plenty of time to work with.
 
Pre Grit is designed to be used on its own,so much so that british gypsum say to use board finish(not multi) over thistle bond it,and as you probably know,board finish is for low suction backgrounds,on that basis and on my own experience i'd say it does just fine at controlling suction.
 
if it works for you ryan thats all that matters :RpS_thumbup: each to their own. i've known fellas put mortar plasticiser in the gauge to slow down the set :RpS_blink: and other fellas that add a splash of pva to the water when trowelling up to help the painters :RpS_crying: and others still that would skim over wallpaper :RpS_sleep: these are not practices that i would recommend but it worked for them :RpS_unsure:
 
blue grit is bloody terrible............... takes forever to apply evenly but is that lumpy it makes a smooth wall like the thickest artex ever to cover ... it is the cheapest pre-grit for a reason. wba is good to cover but have to stir a lot as its like pee water and its fecking dear and there's no wicks near me. love the plasprime be sovereign .. easy to apply, cover and well priced..imo
 
a good tip I got given was add a bit of water to the tub and give it a slosh around with a drill, using it neat out of the to is a bit difficult plus it doesn't go as far, if you water it down too much you get left with the grit at the bottom of the tub which is a bit of a waste.
 
I thought the blue grit was a bit lumpy aswell. Its a f**k*r to roll on a ceilin to lol. Got a livin room to do tomorrow and goin to be usin blue grit as theres a full tub sittin in my hall. Might try addin a splash of water to it. Thought i was goin on holiday for 3 weeks but priced work on friday and they got bk to me today, livin room and a kitchen. Customers desperate and its some holiday cash :)
 
Bluegrit green grit wba gyprime ,nela,s*p*r*lex ,speedskim,plastic trowel ,fuckme we don't half complicate things
 
Also I always make sure i have long sleaves and wear gloves when using pre grits,or when its time for a bath its like your washing with sand paper:RpS_biggrin:
