Alright lads. Someone has asked me to price to skim out a kitchen. Problem is its bare brickwork painted with masonry paint. In all fairness it looks sound and flat nut needs a coat of something first. Any suggestions on what to use? I was thinking sbr till tacky then hardwall

Cheers

Tony

a very nice thought out question , full stops , capitals the works , well done , if you would like the answer to your question there will be a one off charge of £7.99 payable to the plasterers forum . co . uk , t&c apply , read the small print .

Not done any short course. Just never been asked to plaster over painted brickwork. Ta., :;.,!'"#-

Cheap option is a pre grit. Or you could eml it. Or batten and board it. Or just dab it straight Over. Or float it straight Over.

asking if you can plaster over painted brickwork = 1. ltd knowledge of the trade..2. courser.. good luck tho..

Ok everyone seems abit tired and clicky. I ain't no effing courser either just asked a simple question

Thistle bond it or blue bondit the day before if you are certain the paint is sound.plaster next day with hardwall and skim same day

Thanks for a sensible answer. I been plastering 15 yrs honesty never been asked to plaster over painted brickwork. I have always dabbed it. I suggested this to the guy that wants the job done, but he doesn't want to shell out for materials he just wants it done cheap as possible.
Also if anyone wanna throw out sarcastic insults grow up and do it to someone else

Yeah cheers. Like I said I would not like to use S&C, the bloke don't wanna pay for boards just wanted to know if hardwall would be sound.

I think they've all gone to bed now

Plasterers can be grumpy :-\

I don't think I have ever floated over painted brickwork.... I think its a valid question to be fair.. @beddy answered it well I think @Tonev

Not hardwall use bonding as it will be low suction.
You can scratch with bonding leave to set then top with hardwall and skim.

Why would you scratch the bonding. if the bonding is on just skim straight onto the bonding
