Here is my review of the new uni-finish that British Gypsum have asked some of us to try out. I thought it would make more sense to film it so that you can see the timings involved and see the backgrounds as well.

I chopped this video down to make it easier to digest, there is however a longer video showing the whole set, trust me its not worth watching zzzz

Thanks for posting no reaction on paint looks a good job bet you sat in the van rest of the day lol!

Very well done in my opinion, you came across well, you could of mentioned one stop shop a few more times, but joking aside, very professional lad

Nice one Oli

Think it needs a test on some old grey finish, or dry skim, I remember everyone having issues on artex ceilings with it

Quality that Oli,:RpS_thumbup:

Ive just got one complaint!!!!...YOUR WORK CLOTHES ARE SOOOOOOOO CLEAN!!!! :RpS_sneaky::RpS_mad::RpS_biggrin:

I have used a bag on very dry bare plaster and it did pull in very quick , BG do recommend that you use a stabiliser or gyprime over high suction surfaces so it defeats the object of uni-finish in my opinion. I would only use uni-finish on very low suction areas to be cost effective.

Oliver was that 3 bags in total?

yes bud, to be exact the set was 27.8m, that is a true measure taking out the doors. there was a section that was supposed to be bonded out ready and I dubbed it out with skim. That is the doorway on the far right

Yeah thought as much tbh, see when they originally brought it to market they never stipulated that hence the issues..

Also over artex I would still grit them just common sense really

Interesting to see the price point IMO not worth bothering if over £6 a bag @ £6 I would buy it for reskims over mostly paint

I think that unless it can be used over all substrates without pva it wont take off.

Its based at the re-skim market but as we all know on a reskim you can have half a dozen different substrates on just 1 wall never mind perhaps an artex ceiling, old lime, gypsum, paint, diy fillers, maybe bit of boardwork etc.

Youd be to concerned at getting caught out so thinking ahh feck it might as well just pick up multi and be done with it.

P.S I realy, realy want it to work and within reason would be happy to pay a premium I bloody hate glueing rooms up.

It would need to be as clear cut as this in my opinion

Plasterboard - Boardfinish
All other substrates - Unifinish and discontinue Multi!!!

My favourite bit was 9:17-9:22 :RpS_thumbsup:
Where was that trowel from again Oli? :rolleyes)
Show more arse crack next time ffs :flapper:

Good vid mate :RpS_thumbup:

Shame it's gonna have to be redone when it falls off :-(

for me its all about artex, the set in this vid using pva would have taken 30-40 mins longer . perhaps an hour.

its the low suction surfaces where this product will benefit plasterers

. artex or glossy paint

I like multi finish thereis nothing wrong with it IMO

totally agree kev I use it over everything....point I was trying to make is that I think for unifinish to work I think it will have to be in the place of multi with everyone having full confidence or people will just buy multi and pva to be on the safe side like.:RpS_thumbup:

Very good and informative video there @Olican . Really enjoyed watching it , Especially about 7.10 in and 8 minutes in with a bit of lionel Richie all night long playing. May show a few what can be put on with no bother (As long as your 7th tall) I would have been kicking my crate round with attitude as i am only a short arse. Does show the gear works on some areas but not all.I think the is always going to be a use for all the stabilizing solutions. PVA .Bond it,Blue grit,Gyp prime etc, But on some jobs it could make our work a bit easier. I have an absolute shocking artex ceiling in my house, That I will use the 2 bags i have on. May knock some sense into my mrs if it fails and falls off :RpS_biggrin:
