Hi guys, Priced a 3 bedroom house up full uni bond and skim finish with several walls that need hacking off and refloating, put in a price that was a good price for the client well at least that's what I thought and I found out I never got the job as some other guy got it for £850 inc materials, how can people do the work for this price no wonder our rates are terrible with people putting in stupid prices to under cut us! Rant over

happening all the time pal, its ruined with coursers and dole boys who are happy if they got enough to get pissed every nite, that price is mental. im fed up with the game alately...

It's so sad getting really desperate! How can they justify the price as your talking bout 250-300 for the gear! Crazy!

Get wat u pay for .**** thing is u get a call after it's done saying its shite an will u put it right . Don't know how many times that's happened

I put in three hard years serving my time and people go on A two week course, that's what's happening mate people on the dole! It's not right and not fair, but to be undercut on a price that's miles away is what hurts our trade the most!

dont let it bother you mate. I know its annoying but getting pissed off isnt going to achieve anything. customers like that I just say make sure you know what you're getting for the price. and wish them all the best. can't run a business dealing with people like that

I agree beddy, but alately its getting on my tits, its ok for us to say '' let em get on with it then'' but, Im really slack with work at the moment, going from week to week, priced one up today ( I did her mums years ago, priced it , lets say very competitavely.. and when I told her the price she said '' wow, didnt think it was that much'' fuk me... and she hasnt called back up to now, how are we supposed to carry on ? I know half a dozen of my mates, proper spreads who are doing completely different things now, they bailed out... personally I will carry on, but it fuks me off when I see people on here who have done a short course asking for advice.. let them learn like we did..

I bet the guy would do a quality job for £850 all in! It's these jobs which end up costing the customer in the end cus they went with the cheapest and get a rough job!

My sister had 3 ceilings (artex over skimm) in her house done by a bloke who quoted £150 all in. It was my brother in law who got him in.
I was there the other week and the quality of work was crap, holes everywhere!

Would never go back and put people shite work right mate, hate dong it on site when am working with agency guys! (I've worked with some good uns) but no way would I on a job that I lost out on which I wouldn't off been making massive money on in the first place! The more I think of it the more it p****** me right off! Obviously happening a lot!

getting harder and harder to make a living in this game,, its hard enough anyway but what chance have u got when pricing against people who are prepared to work for this sort of money,, unfortunately i dont think things are going to get better,, there seems to be more and more people who will work for this money

I priced one a few month back.. 790.... she had a qoute for 240.... gear was 180... hows that work then ? WTF...

Your right mate it's not good at all, the same bloke asked me to price up for parex on his mates house and before I gave him one he said could I do it for 200 quid labour and with that had to pay my labourer?? Honestly the trade is screwed with people putting in stupid prices! 30m2 for the rendering too!

We are doing one in battersea for an eccentric millionaire lady, she paid 8k deposit on windows, then didn't like the handles and cancelled ,not troubled about the 8k ,different worlds

I had to read that through a couple of times to make sure I'd read the price correctly! I know there are a lot of people coming into the trades, but have things really got that bad?

thats just taking the piss mate,, hope you told him where to go,,, who the fokc would even think about doing it for that,,,

Wey aye told him I couldn't do it for that told him I would price for it but not for what he was wanting, told him I would but after loosing that job it's pointless wasting my time as the chances who got the other job would probably undercut me anyway! Not wasting my time for anyone who thinks am going to work for pennies!

How long would it take to do the job? I can't see how anyone could do a whole house for that money. What'll it be after materials, £550? £600?

sleep easy friend!!! you now have the luxury of knowing some fella is going to devalue his house for him and when he sees the final product and his wife bursts into tears and says why didn't we just get a gang of kids over to have a plastering party instead. Thats when at internet speed he thinks of you MHLplaster.

Imago the materials were 270.... Doing the job for 500 quid full house....... Must be on 30 quid a day or he's another bloke who hoys 20 bags a day on and finishes at 2pm, ballsdeep I will sleep easy tonight not sure how the client will when he sees the finished job..... No chance of me going back,!if so price will go up! ;)

F##k em. I've been on both sides I priced a job for someone and he asked me to do it for half the money. So I said il do half the work. Tit
then a few weeks back a took over a job for someone who had a spread skimming ceilings over artex without scraping them for £60 a lid !! He wondered why with 3 ceilings to go he asked for an advance for materials and never came back lol
his eyes nearly popped out when I told him it would be double but he came back 24 hrs later and I did them.
chin up mate don't drop your prices the **** will always get flushed away.

That's insane.

Stay calm things are looking up, massive shortage of tradesman in London in all trades I know a site in Edmoton N London paying brickies £170 a day get your price right £200 a day is easily got, big companies are soon going to have to bend they have had there day screwing us now its our turn, Bulgarians and Romanians don't have the skills needed and there isn't a Pole left in Poland to come here what with 30 years of neglect with training our own youth its time for us old gits to nick a few quid.
