I've just posted this question on another post but I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread (apologies if asked before)
I have worked on sites for over 10 years and I've never seen machine spread in action but the more I read about it the more I want to try it. My shoulder is knackered and anything that makes my life easier the better!!! How much to buy? Can you use them on new build site work? How many bags does it mix in one gauge (I mix 4 bags a gauge straight away in a big bucket)? Is it easy to self teach to use?

Whats your set up mate , do your work on your own, 2/spreads ? machines are great , but it depends on your set up and the work you do , PFT guys are worth a chat ,down to earth and honest

I use a 90ltr tub Scottie. There's just me and apprentice (who's a decent spread) and work on new build houses. Does anybody use machine on new build houses?

Not many, all i do is bash new builds, and it was looking at the machines that bought me to the forum in the first place, although tbh i long since given up on the idea.

hi mate,, dont you find the gear is starting to stiffen up by the time you use the last of the mix,, could be why your shoulder plays up,,, i prefer to have fresh gear so its easier to use

We mostly use knauf MP finish which stays wet. Unfortunately on new build prices we have to put big gauges on, also pressure to finish houses quick!! That's why I cutout about the machines to make life easier.

Hi Dalestan, have you considered getteing involved with Knauf Ready mixed plasters, entry cost of machines is much less than for powder plasters and the labour element is considerably less, which will help with "knackered shoulder", if you would like any info or discuss give me a call, number on profile.

Just put your mobile up Clive, you won't get any funny messages or naughty pics .(unless off course rich brown sees this thread)

I'm using The Plasterers Forum Mobile App
