Hi all, having some issues with over boarding the landing ceiling.. seems they are all off a bit so tried packing as I went along but it's getting messy now.. will probably just start over..

I watched a video about screwing new joists into the existing ones, over the old plasterboard then finding the lowest one, levelling then going off that to the next one.. is this a good way to do it? the ceiling is high so no issues losing a few inches from it...

Would be interested to hear the best way to solve this and how you go about it, many thanks

I would just over board it screw into old joists and through a broom coat over it or bonding coat were its uneven low/high points get it as flat/ level as poss use a feather edge if needed then just two coats of skim if you don't want to do that just lower the ceiling with a hole new ceiling wall plates and all and board it job done

a few variables to consider really, cost , ceiling height etc...sometimes with a particularly out of of plumb ceiling your better off fixing 2'x'2 level below the ceiling and drop the ceiling, but like I said all about cost

sorry me old luver , probably sounded a bit vague there, all I was suggesting was that if the ceiling is all over shop then a dropping a ceiling below it can be quicker than dicking around trying to level the existing. My comment about cost was wether or not he had all ready priced the job and was trying to save some spondoolies forgive me GrandCatMaster :RpS_unsure:

Ive got all sorts of re-bar , straps and odds and ends in me lock up, ideal for the wee domestics. can frame a ceiling off in no time with the right gear

also got a tripl-ender dildo in there....just in case someone tells me to go fook maself :RpS_thumbsup:

Cheers lads, knew I could count on you lot. I ended up carpeting it, actually looks pretty cool
