hi all,
have had a kitchen re-fit & walls plastered - all great, however we didn,t have the "artexed" ceiling done- on taking down a flouresant light fitting & removing a warm air unit we were left with a long narrow strip & a piece approx. 2ft x 1ft that needed "matching up" hubby did this with finishing plaster & although the "thin strip" has dried a pinky colour the larger patch is still the same colour that it was when it was done 3 days ago - to the touch it appears dry but obviously can,t be going by the colour - any ideas ? by the way the patch looks o.k. when painted I think it will be quite passable

It can dry different colours. But if its been there 3 days I guess there could still be some moisture left in it. Its been damp and cold.

Patchings a bit of a thing in itself though, if its an amateur job its gonna be rough as **** even if its dried alright. Might get away with painting, but I've seen some bad attempts at patching.

thankyou all for your replys - 5 days in now & still dark brown !! lol am I right in thinking that as long as it,s MATT emulsion that is put on it IF it is still damp (that I honestly can,t see that it is) it will allow the drying process to continue ?
smoother - why would I want to get it skimmed ?I like a slightly patterned ceiling & plain walls

Get a wet sponge, dab the patch (both the 'wet' and the dry section), then put a hairdryer on a cold setting and watch what happens. The dry section will dry reasonably quick and your arm will ache before the 'wet' bit changes colour. Give it a blast anyhow and you'll see for yourself. It'll be fine to paint it. :RpS_thumbup:
