painted wall
hi need advice loose paint scraped it pva it 5to1 1st coat seemed gritie 2nd not much better can anyone help thanks

gritty? sounds like you're putting it on too thin.
sounds like you haven't controlled the suction enough either. Most people put two coats of pva on. First coat 1:5, let it dry thoroughly. Then stick another coat of pva on, this time at 1:3. Skim it when it's gone tacky.
what type of walls are you trying to reskim? Were they done with gypsum based plaster or lime?Where's OUR bailout?

thanks twitcher new to plastering just a diy goon sorry is that 3 pva 1 water i put 5pva 1 water very stiff are well just another 3 rooms thanks again

1 part pva to 5 parts water and 1 part pva to 3 parts water respectively
